Sharon Couple celebrated their 60th anniversary

Gabe and Janet Trost of Sharon celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 6. The gala vent was hosted by their son Barry of New York and daughter Eileen of Foxboro. Family and friends from New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts attended the party that was held at the Holiday Inn in Mansfield. The Trosts also have six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

750 Couples to Say 'I Do' All Over Again

Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony in Pittsburgh Attempts to Set World Record

Ground Hog Day will be over. But, it'll be deja-vu all over again as 750 couples gather in Pittsburgh on February 10 to renew their wedding vows.

The media is invited to attend the sold-out event, dubbed "Re-Union: The World's Largest Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony," which is expected to set the Guinness World Record(TM) for the most couples to renew their vows at one time. NOTE: Media interested in covering the event MUST register by Wed., February 6.

The Honorable Luke Ravenstahl will preside over the Sunday evening ceremony. "This Re-Union event coincides perfectly with the City of Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary in 2008," said Mayor Ravenstahl. "I'm absolutely delighted to have the honor of presiding over this special, once-, OK, well maybe in this case, twice-in-a-lifetime occasion."

The event is completely sold out, and the organizers regret that they cannot accommodate those who have not already registered.

Woman drops four dress sizes to wear 42-year-old wedding dress

Florence Semple has given her husband an anniversary present to remember - by dropping four dress sizes so she could fit into her 42-year-old wedding dress.

HR worker Florence, 62, had promised her husband David that she would be the size 12 woman he married in 1966 on their wedding anniversary this year.

Friends and family were stunned when mum-of-two Florence went on a diet and fulfilled her pledge - culminating in her putting on the original size 12 gown again.

Flory couple to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Ronald Jack Flory and Dorine Marjorie Parks were married Jan. 31, 1958, in Carmichael, Calif. Ron served 23 years in the Air Force, including a stationing in Japan and a tour in Vietnam, and retired from the Air Force in 1979.

The couple settled in Newton to be near Ron’s parents, the late Robert and Audrey Flory of Elbing. Ron worked in receiving and served as a union steward at Hesston Corpo./Hay and Forage Industries, and retired from the company after more than 20 years. Marjorie is a homemaker who occasionally worked outside the home and raised the couple’s three children.

Couple celebrates their diamond wedding anniversary

Bill and Christine Rutherford celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
TO mark the occasion of 60 years of married life together, Bill and Christine Rutherford chose to get together with 60 of their friends at the Tusitala Pavilion in Fairmilehead.

The couple, who are both aged in their 80s, met in 1943, during the Second World War when they were both serving in Rangoon, Burma. Bill was a serviceman in the RAF and Chris was a ward sister with the Queen Alexandra Nursing Corps in the 52nd General Indian Hospital.

It was not the most auspicious meeting – Bill's commanding officer was a patient at the hospital and Bill got a stern telling off from Chris because he entered the ward without permission.

Dinwiddie couple celebrates 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dinwiddie of Pascagoula, Mississippi celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 10, 2007, in the fellowship hall at Arlington Heights Baptist Church.

Mr. Dinwiddie took the former Joelenne Roles of Williamsburg, Va., as his bride Oct. 4, 1957, at James River Baptist Church of Williamsburg with the late Cecil S. Smart officiating.

During the anniversary celebration, the Rev. Ben Carlisle said a prayer to bless the couple.

Samples celebrate silver anniversary

Ronald and Deborah Sample celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Jan. 21. Mr. and Mrs. Sample were married in Center Jan. 21, 1983. They are now living in Jasper, Texas.

Their children are Charles L. Andrews of Jasper, Melissa Guy of Lufkin, Misty Sample of Nederland, and Megan Sample of Beaumont; along with six grandchildren.

Their children will give a 25th anniversary reception Jan. 26 from 3 - 5 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 351 W. Gibson, in Jasper.

Sprinkle's celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sprinkle of Springfield, formerly of Cuba, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Dec. 22 with a wedding vow reaffirmation ceremony and buffet reception with 100 friends and family in attendance. The ceremony was held at the Sherman Church of the Nazarene, the Reverend Glen Hunter officiating.

Sprinkle and the former Goldie Binger were married Jan. 9, 1938, at the Baptist church in Petersburg, the Reverend F.A. Wirth officiating.

Sprinkle managed a Cuba Kroger Grocery for many years. He later bought and renamed the store the Red and White grocery. The family moved to Springfield in 1959 when Sprinkle went to work for Sears Roebuck and Company, retiring in 1979. She was a seamstress, baker, and homemaker. She was a familiar face assisting at the grocery store and delivering her fresh baked pies.

Three daughters and one son were born in Cuba. The Sprinkles were active in the Cuba Nazarene church. He was treasurer and led songs. She taught Sunday school and was head of the Missionary Society. They actively entertained family, friends and visitors, and enjoyed hosting many class parties for their teenage daughters.

Snoop Dogg Renews Wedding Vows

Snoop Dogg has proven his marriage is back on track -- he and his wife Shante have renewed their wedding vows to mark their 10th anniversary.

The hip-hop star -- real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. -- surprised his spouse on January 12 by arranging a romantic ceremony attended by 200 guests to renew their nuptials at a ranch just outside Los Angeles.

Dressed in a black tuxedo, the rapper exchanged vows with Shante for the second time and presented her with a diamond ring to seal his commitment to their marriage.

The couple wed in 1998 and have three children together -- 13-year-old Corde, 10-year-old Cordell and 7-year-old Cori.

Marks couple to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Larry and Judy Marks of Newton will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary during a dinner with their children and grandchildren on Saturday.

Another celebration will be with friends and family at a later date.

Larry Marks and Judy Voegeli were married Jan. 17, 1958, in Miami, Okla. They have resided in Newton since 1971.

Larry retired from Yellow Freight in 1994 and is employed at Bumper to Bumper in Newton. Judy is employed at Flowers by Ruzen.

Congrats on such a major marital milestone.

Radtkes celebrate 70th anniversary

Walter and Irma Radtke are proud to announce that they have celebrated 70 years of marriage together. The couple will mark their anniversary with a special blessing from Father Flanagan on Dec. 23, 2007, in St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Martinez, Texas.

The Radtkes have four children: the late Elgin (an infant son), the late Eva Nell, Maurice Radtke and his wife, Chris, of Smiley, and Joyce Hartmann and her husband, Clarence “Squeaky” Hartmann, of La Vernia. They are blessed with six grandchildren, Edie Rodriguez and her husband, Gabriel, of Galveston, Maurice Radtke Jr., Elgin Radtke, Carl Radtke and his wife, Vickie, of Destin, Fla., Clint Hartmann and his wife, Michelle, of Seguin, and Kristie Carlisle and her husband, Gary, of Spring.

70 years wed for Rasen couple

A MARKET Rasen couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve - that's platinum!
Sylvia and Les Thorn of The Ridings were married on December 24 1937 in Romford, having met at the cycling club to which they both belonged.

Couple celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

THEY fell for each other during a service at a packed Pendleton church in 1934.

It was love at first sight for Mr and Mrs Ralph and Dorothy Goldsmith, who celebrate 70 years of marriage tomorrow.

The couple, of Milton Avenue, Clitheroe, will toast their platinum wedding anniversary.

Mr Goldsmith (91), an ex-farmer, was 18 when he first saw Mrs Goldsmith (95) at All Saints' Church.

Born and brought up in West Yorkshire, Mrs Goldsmith moved to Clitheroe to work at Standen Hall. The pair married on December 21st, 1937.

The newlyweds made their first home in a farm cottage on the Standen Estate, Clitheroe.

Mr Goldsmith said: "I worked as a farmer and earned £2 a week to run a family. The only form of entertainment we had were three picture houses in Clitheroe, village dances or a walk up Pendle Hill! But everyone was happy with the little they had."

After many decades of hard work and sacrifice, a Fayetteville couple will be celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary on Friday.

The Farners -- Paul, 93 and Dorothy (nee, Hock), 90 -- feel that faith, trust and experiencing rough times together, such as the Depression, have made them closer to one another and has made their marriage stronger.

"I can't imagine the times they have been through," said their daughter-in-law, Sandy Farner.

"We'll never go through times like they have," their son, Bennett Farner, said.

Golden Anniversary

Lebert and Marilyn Mercier of St. Anne will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with an open house for family and friends at First Reformed Church of Wichert.

The event will be hosted by their children and families. Their children and spouses are Ralph and Lori Mercier of Papineau; and Melissa Mowrey of St. Anne. The couple has five grandchildren.

Mercier and the former Marilyn DeYoung were married Jan. 17, 1958, at First Reformed Church of Wichert.

Mercier currently farms and is active in the Kankakee Area Youth for Christ.

Robert and Joy Kingsley of Sedgwick will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.

Both are graduates of Conway Springs High School. In 1963, they moved to Sedgwick where they raised their six sons: Terry and wife, Lori, of Valley Center; Steve and wife, Terri, of Sedgwick; Ed and wife, Beth Ann, of Halstead; Bob and wife, Janet, of Wichita; Don and wife, Lori, of Newton; and John and wife, Shannon, of Newton.

Geeson's celebrated their 70th anniversary

It has been an extra special festive season for a South Witham couple George and Viola Geeson who celebrated 70 years of marriage yesterday. George, 97, and Viola, 94, celebrated their platinum wedding with their family at the Angel Inn.

The couple met in 1934 at a dance in Wymondham.

George said: "I was very keen on dancing and so was Viola.

"I had an old car, a Willys Overland Whippet, and one or two of us used to go dancing. One night in 1934 I took a load of my pals to Wymondham because there was a dance in the village hall there.

Not only is it amazing to reach 90 plus years of age but to be married for 70 years is even better.

couple celebrates 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Sammy McArthur of Moss Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 9, 2007, on the lawn of their Lily Patch Lane home.

Mr. McArthur took the former Sandra Carpenter of Moss Point as his wife Dec. 10, 1957, at First Baptist Church of Lucedale with the late Rev. L.G. Camp officiating.

During the celebration, the Rev. Bill Barton said a prayer to bless the couple's 50 years of marriage. The group, Red Roots of Hurley, sang a variety of music.

Among the special guests were Mr. and Mrs. J.T. (Pat) Smith of Barton who were present at the original ceremony.

Hosting the event was the couple's three daughters, Jeanne Russell of Long Beach, Tammy Baker of Moss Point and Kimberly Taylor of Daphne, Ala., along with grandchildren Ally, Ashley and Zach Taylor of Daphne; Casey, Meagen and Jessica Baker of Moss Point; Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy (Jean) Russell of Long Beach; and three great-grandchildren, all of Long Beach.

celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

A 50th anniversary celebration was given for Donnie and Diane Thompson by their children, Milt (Denise), Dean (Cindy), Melissa, Robyn and Valerie (Robbie).

The celebration was held at the Ripley Elementary School gymnasium on Sept. 29 but their anniversary was on Sept. 28. There were more than 150 guests who came to help Donnie and Diane celebrate their day, including their grandchildren, Ka'Shira, Jaques, Jason, Bryson, Chandra, Bethany, Jarrin and De'ja; and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Graysen Zaviar and Izabella. Diane's mother, Mary Pharris was also in attendance making it a five generation group there to celebrate. Donnie and Diane also had their two godchildren present, Libby and Matt. Shelly Sroufe was mistress of ceremony for the evening. Matt Sroufe and Amanda Massman served at the registry table, distributing a specially made bookmark with Donnie and Diane's picture on it to guests.
