Writing about your relationship can help make your love last

Writing makes the heart grow fonder.

That's the conclusion of new University of Texas research on what happened when at least one partner in a couple wrote intensively about his or her deepest feelings about the relationship. Three months later, 77 percent of those couples were still together, compared with 52 percent of couples who wrote about everyday activities.   Full article at The Statesman

It's always been my experience that a nice romantic gift "just because" can also help make love last.

There doesn't always have to be an excuse, an anniversary, a make-up, a birthday - a little gift to let your partner know you love them even enough to think of them that much on ordinary days can go a long way!

Charming old Florida town keeps the romance alive

In those fresh and heady days of new romance, a getaway is something of a forbidden pleasure. Almost any place will do.

Later, when the ink on the marriage announcement has long dried, romance becomes a matter of absence: Absence of kids, office politics, social commitments, bill-paying, the appointment with the Terminex man. But turning off the worry spigot isn't automatic. A place of ease -- of unhurried moments, natural beauty, a graciously preserved past -- can help slow the mind.

One such town exists a mere 30 minutes away from Jacksonville.

However, if time and agenda doesn't permit such a romantic getaway, why not capture a romantic moment or two by sharing a nice bottle of wine, a few treasured memories and a beautiful bouquet of roses that will never fade away.

Billionaire Weddings

What kind of wedding would you have if money were no object?

How about one with 10,000 flowers (perhaps half of them paper roses), 45 chefs, a 200-pound Grand Marnier Cake and live performances by Billy Joel and Tony Bennett. Sound excessive? Not for Donald Trump, who threw just such a bash when he married his third-wife Melania Krauss last year. The reception was held at his palatial 18-acre Mar-A-Lago club in Palm Beach. The star-studded guest list included such celebrities as Bill Clinton, Shaquille O'Neal, and Katie Couric. The showstopper was his bride's Christian Dior gown, which she modeled on the cover of Vogue last February, decorated with 1,500 rhinestones, it weighed 60 pounds.

Trump isn't the only billionaire who has thrown a glamorous and glitzy wedding. With wedding season in full swing, we decided to take a look back at some billionaire weddings to find out who besides Trump knows how to throw truly spectacular celebrations.

One particularly memorable affair was that of Russian billionaire Andrei Melnichenko and his bride-to-be, the former Miss Yugoslavia, Aleksandra Kokotovic. Melnichenko flew in both Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera to perform at the September 2005 event, which took place on France's breathtaking Cote d'Azur. The affair was so over-the-top that rumors circulated that Melnichenko had a Russian chapel dismantled, shipped and rebuilt in France.

Regardless of whether the special couple are billionaires or the guy and gal next door, it's their special day and one they'll reflect back on year after year. Why not give them a gift that will make the memories all the more special!

Honeymoon Packages

For romance, food and fun, Hawaii is still the top spot for newlyweds. Modern Bride consulted travel experts around the country and ranked the world's best honeymoons in the August/September issue. Here are some of the highlights of the survey:

• Hawaii wins first place because of its beaches, snorkeling and diving spots, food and overall romantic ambience. Tahiti was ranked second; Italy, Mexico and Fiji were third, fourth and fifth.

• When asked to name the best destinations in specific categories, the experts chose Tahiti for romance, Las Vegas for nightlife, Costa Rica for adventure and Italy for food.

• In a separate poll conducted on Travelocity.com, 30% of respondents said weather was the most important factor when choosing their honeymoon location. Six percent of those polled said they had plans for a "honeymoon baby."

While location is a key in that complete honeymoon package,
a nice gift waiting in the honeymoon suite in anticipation of the happy couples
arrival would make the honeymoon even more complete and memorable.

Paper roses? A perfect idea! You could also include a little
spending money in that same gift with the Just Money
Roses

Testimonials

We get fantastic testimonials for our traditional wedding anniversary gifts - too many to publish on our website. Here's one from today:

"Man, the response was great, always is. I have used you guys from day one, ever since I was in the military. I strongly believe chivalry is still alive. I always give the best anniversary gifts because of you. This is year number five that I have used you guys and gals. I love it. Thanks"

It doesn't get much better than that!
